NEWS & EVENTS

40:20 Just Do It!

During November, Climate Durham members, in conjunction with Durham secondary school pupils, created their vision statement 40:20 Just Do It! Upon completion of the statement, it was delivered by a video conference of 15 pupils from five Durham schools to attendees of the Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen in December 2009.

Climate Durham wants to support the County to fulfill its commitment to a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2020 by inspiring, encouraging, supporting and enabling a whole range of activities which will mitigate climate change.

Here is a list of suggested projects we hope to support across the county. If you have an idea for a project or would like to take up one of these on the list, why not get in touch with us?

Thermal Mapping

Are you a student and would like to be involved in a collaborative project to thermally map 200 or so houses in the viaduct? Climate Durham is working with the Council, Energy Savings Trust and the University - if you'd like to make a difference to the carbon footprint of our City, then contact Janie

10:10

Climate Durham has signed up to 10:10 - a pledge to reduce emissions by 10% in 2010. You can too! Click here to find out more. We are hoping that a significant number of businesses, schools, organisations and individuals from Durham are going to sign up to this initiative, which has been created to send a message (pre-Copenhagen) to Government and to the world that the citizens of the UK want to see action on climate change.
